What your insurance company says about Medical Tourism and Health Care Reform

The Medical Tourism Association (MTA) has produced the most thorough white paper yet on the affect of health care reform on medical tourism.
They provide specific details that should be of interest to all people looking to decipher the road signs to what health care reform means in America.
Any negative affects of health care reform on you, personally, can be mitigated through the proper use of medical tourism.
And until such time as your employer offers you medical tourism options, what you learn on your own can greatly effect the medical costs and wellness outcomes for you and your friends.
According to a new white paper and survey released 7/21 by the Medical Tourism Association (MTA), the association conducted a survey of over one hundred US insurance companies and US employers on the effect medical tourism will have upon them.
The survey, “Healthcare Reform Survey Among Industry Stakeholders Discovers Similar Concerns,” July, 2010, shows a sample of the future growth potential of the medical tourism industry. 71 percent of insurance companies and employers felt healthcare reform was extremely positive for the medical tourism industry and more Americans would travel overseas under the new law.
Employers and insurance companies know that healthcare reform will increase costs and medical tourism is one of the few ways to lower those costs.
If you’d like information on how to reduce your own health care costs using medical tourism, take this survey to identify the considerations involved in the decision to travel abroad, and read about medical tourism in layman’s terms through the perspective of patient stories showing how others are using the many variations of medical tourism.
The Medical Tourism White Paper can be read in the Healthcare Reform Updates section of the Medical Tourism Congress website. http://medicaltourismcongress.com/en/healthcare-reform-updates.html
