Medical Tourism – If It Can’t be Done in Costa Rica, It Can’t be Done!

Clinica Biblica and CIMA are both private hospitals serving medical tourists in Costa Rica
Costa Rica is home to some of the most highly trained physicians, many of them American trained, that provide quality health, dental, and cosmetic surgery care and serves medical tourists at a fraction of the cost compared to the United States and Canada.
With health care costs skyrocketing out of control in the United States, Costa Rican medical tourism has become a very attractive option for cost-conscious consumers seeking quality care at an affordable price.
Because of Costa Rica’s close proximity to the USA, the country attracts over 20,000 US patients a year. Costa Rica is only 2 ½ hrs from Miami, 3 hrs, from Dallas, and flights are very inexpensive.
Deloitte Center for Health Solutions, in their 2009 report Medical Tourism Consumers in Search of Value reports cost savings between 30-70% of US prices.
Costa Rica offers 3 Joint Commission International accredited (JCI) Hospitals.
The Hospitals
Hospital Clinica Biblica has invested in equipment and high end technology for years and still continues to do so. Recently it invested over $2.6 million in acquiring a hemodynamic laboratory, three echocardiogram units and a strength test circuit. The equipment recently purchased by the Hospital responds to its growing presence within the cardiovascular niche.
Católica Hospital & Hotel recently completed a major $25 million refurbishing during 2007 and 2008. In addition, adjacent to their facilities, they have completed a 34-room hotel for patients and their families. In July of of2009 they became JCI accredited. Hospital Hotel La Catolica offers the latest specialties with an always improving technology such as: Cosmetic and Aesthetic, Bariatric, Orthopedic and Laparoscopic Surgeries. Exclusive oxygenation system, one of its kind in the county, with three Hyperbaric Chambers.

When we were checking out medical loan ptoviders some companies would not loan to someone going to another country for medical care. This made know sense to me.
We were happy to find a company that works with the patient rather that the provider.
